The Great Run Steak Update!

Some of you may remember back in January when I wrote about a friendly running competition that was gradually becoming an intense little battle between two coworkers at EthoSource.  That was back on Day 62 of the Streak.  And back on that day, it seemed crazy that the original 35 day Run Streak had extended as far as it did, and that both runners had managed to run at least 1 mile every single day for each of those days.

Well, if you’ve managed to do the math while reading this, you were able to figure out that the run streak has now reached a ridiculous 118 days! Now, I must mention that back at Day 62, the competition was really heating up, and you would think that at this point, with the stakes even higher, the Streak would be as intense as ever before.  But I think there is good reasons to why basketball, soccer, football, and all other competitions do not last over 100 days.  At this point, the Streak isn’t so much a rivalry as it was in the beginning, but now simply a way of life for both runners.  It may be safe to say, the two couldn’t stop this madness even if they wanted to. Maybe they’re simply determined, or maybe they’re actually addicted, but whatever it is, there’s no telling how long this run streak may go on.

Ian Gendreau, the Director of IT and Marketing, and Nicolette Miller, the Marketing Assistant (also known as the assistant to Ian), are the two dedicated runners in the Run Streak.  There were a couple instances in the competition that came close to ending it for both runners.  As head coach of Daniel Boone’s boys high school basketball team, Ian’s schedule made it tough to find time to run.  On nights of away games, Ian was waking up early to get his run in before heading to EthoSource.  Nicolette was sure she would be finished by Day 100, seeing it as a great stopping point, but when one of the other original Run Streakers claimed he had in fact been running all this time in secret, she decided she couldn’t risk the loss and kept her streak going (in reality, it turns out it was just a trick, and Nicolette is very gullible).   So the Streak continues on and the winner is still unknown.  With a Mexico vacation later this month for Ian, and a 24th birthday coming up for Nicolette, who knows what the future has in store for the Run Streak… or if it will just continue forever!!

Who do you think is going to win??
