EthoSource Encounter- Jenna Kurtz

I think any member of our team would agree with me when I say that we don’t know what we would do without Jenna here at EthoSource. Although her title simply says “Designer,” she’s the go-to for questions about anything from Ethospace parts and inventory to layouts and renderings, or when you need a keen eye for fabric colors or worksurface finishes.

Her creativity and expertise has helped us create some of the coolest, most cost-effective offices across the country for all types of customers and floor plans.  For us, it’s always exciting to hear when she’s on a project because you know it’s going to have a uniquely beautiful end result.  That’s why in this week EthoSource Encounter, Jenna Kurtz is going to tell us a little about herself and her role as the lead Designer here at EthoSource!

EthoSource Encounter- Jenna Kurtz

How long have you been at EthoSource? I started in the fall of 2008, so I’m going on 7 years.

What do your different job responsibilities as a Designer entail? My responsibilities can range anywhere from space planning, generating drawings and renderings of different furniture possibilities, processing orders by pulling the product from our inventory, and producing installation drawings. A huge part of my responsibility, too, is putting together the puzzle of meeting the needs of our customers while using our pre-owned inventory.

What’s your favorite part about working at EthoSource? It’s been great to be with a company that has had so much growth over the past few years. EthoSource had maybe 30 full time employees when I started, and we’re close to doubling that today.  Pretty much everyone here has the mentality of constantly getting bigger and better, and it’s great to be surrounded by that mind-set.

If you could work with any company in the world in designing their offices, who would it be? I bet it would be fun to work with LEGO. I could make some cool LEGO-looking stations out of Ethospace for sure.  And, come on, who didn’t love LEGOs as a kid?

What’s your favorite office chair? I’m a sucker for the classic Eames aluminum chair. Specifically, a white low back.

What are three things you couldn’t live without? Other than the obvious three (friends, family, and God), I’ll go with Google, coffee, and my contacts/glasses.

What is something most people don’t know about you? I can eat a lot of hot wings.  Like a lot.  It takes me awhile since I’m a slow eater (no surprise there), but I can get it done.

How do you enjoy spending your time outside of work? Hmm, I’m kind of all over the place. I love taking trips with friends… anything from going to the beach, the city, or the mountains.  And then I kind of love low-key nights, too, where a bunch of us just get some food and watch movies.

If you won the lottery (and won BIG), what would you do with it? Well, if I won the lottery, I’m sure I’d be splitting the winnings with people in the office because they would have been the ones that talked me into playing in the first place. Other than that, it would be cool to travel all over the world and work with different non-profit organizations.  And I’d probably take the opportunity to live in NYC for a year or two.

Anything else you want to include about yourself… I always keep a tooth brush, pillow, and pair of sneakers in my car. I feel pretty prepared for anything that comes my way with that combination… hmm, maybe those are the three things I can’t live without.  : )
