Take Pride in Team Building!

Last week, we held our King of Prussia showroom Open House in conjunction with Escape the Room. We wanted to show off our newest showroom, plus we knew that Escape the Room would be an awesome team building activity for all our attendees! At the end of the night, our own team from EthoSource got to play the Egyptian room at Escape smartRoom Mystery. We had a blast! As soon as you’re let loose in the room, you have to divide and conquer. There’s no getting around working together on their puzzles! Everyone had something to contribute, and when one person got stuck, someone was right there to offer a new idea or point of view. It’s the perfect team building activity!

At some point, your team should set aside some time, take a couple of hours, maybe a full day, to hang out with each other and do something fun. Whether you choose a team building activity disguised as fun, or an activity that’s JUST FUN, it will help bring your team closer together. Maybe you want to break the barriers between management and entry level employees. Or maybe you have a few new faces at work and want to help them get to know everyone better.360team

A few great reasons to try out a team building activity:

  1. Communication! Anything that gets your team communicating is great for the workplace. Some people need practice communicating more than others, but team building will help every team member learn how to go about communicating with each other.
  2. Creativity & Collaboration. Your team will be more creative the more comfortable they are with each other. A team building activity can help foster new ideas, and the act of sharing new ideas more often.
  3. Pride. Participating in a team building activity can inspire employees to appreciate their team and their work more often than normal. They may respect each other more for qualities they never knew each other had before spending some time outside of work together, and most employees will appreciate the fact that they can participate in fun activities FOR work once in a while.
  4. New Skills. Team building can help employees develop skills, such as problem solving skills, to take back to the office. If they need some help coming together to solve problems in the office, a team building activity can reinforce the need to use those skills as a team (source).
