INTENT:  Reduce the use and depletion of finite raw materials and long-cycle renewable materials by replacing them with rapidly renewable materials.*

REQUIREMENTS:  Use rapidly renewable construction and Division 12 (Furniture and Furnishings) materials and products, made from plants that are typically harvested within a 10-year or shorter cycle, for 5% of the total value ($) of all materials and products used in the project. *

ETHOSOURCE CONTRIBUTION:  Workstations can be specified with surface edges made from rapidly renewable resources in the form of bamboo and urethane; as well as bio-based fabrics on tiles.  Bio-based fabrics are made using starch-based agricultural products such as corn, beets, and rice.  Natural bamboo is quickly harvested and leaves no impact on the environment.  The urethane is comprised of approximately 65% refined vegetable oil by weight and vegetable oil is a rapidly renewable material.  The surfaces themselves can be laminated with linoleum, a material made from rapidly renewable resources such as rosin, cork flour, linseed oil and jute.

LEED CATEGORY: INDOOR ENVIRONMENTAL QUALITY*

LEED CREDIT:  Low-Emitting Materials – Composite Wood and Laminate Adhesives*

CREDIT 4.4:  (1 Point)*

INTENT:  Reduce the quantity of indoor air contaminants that are odorous, potentially irritating and/or harmful to the comfort and well-being of installers and occupants. *

REQUIREMENTS:  Composite wood and agri-fiber products, including core materials, must contain no added urea-formaldehyde resins.  Laminate adhesives used to fabricate on-site and shop applied assemblies containing these laminate adhesives must contain no urea-formaldehyde. Products covered by EQ Credit 4.5, Low-Emitting Materials, System Furniture and Seating and Seating shall be excluded from these requirements. *

ETHOSOURCE CONTRIBUTION:  Our stations can be specified with work surfaces constructed of core material with no urea formaldehyde added, resulting in low formaldehyde emissions (0.00-0.01PPM).    All Wilsonart and Formica laminates are GREENGUARD Certified for indoor quality performance.

LEED CATEGORY: INDOOR ENVIRONMENTAL QUALITY*

LEED CREDIT:  Controllability of Systems, Lighting*

CREDIT 6.1:  (1 Point)*

INTENT:  Provide a high level of lighting system control for individual occupants, and specific groups in multi-occupant spaces (e.g., classrooms and conference areas), to promote the productivity, comfort and well-being of building occupants. *

REQUIREMENTS:  Provide lighting controls for:

At least 90% of occupants, enabling adjustments to suit individual task needs and preferences.
